Dear Bobcats,

Welcome to what will definitely be a year full of self discovery, learning, excitement and self reflection at Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center! Let’s begin the 2016-2017 school year with recognizing our Bobcats 16th consecutive year of being an “A+” rated school by the State of Florida Department of Education! This accomplishment continues to prove that our entire community of students with the guidance of our teachers administration and staff, and the support from parents and community organizations has continued our tradition of excellence!

This year’s theme is, “
Bobcats Light the Flame Within!” We are committed to helping each child identify his or her talents and passions while fostering an environment of Respect, Compassion, Self-Worth, Kindness and Acceptance. As this is an Olympic year, we will strive toward educating each of our children in a nurturing yet challenging arena Bobcats are our most valuable resources and together we will become stronger. Each and every one of us possesses that special flame that needs to be ignited and set free to be who we are truly meant to be! Together we will experience different opportunities and find what drives each of us and what makes us unique and special. We will treat each other with the utmost Respect, Compassion, Kindness, Self-worth and Acceptance while ensuring a Bully-Free School where we are all valued!

I am forever grateful to all of our families, community partners, our amazing PTA, the Shepard Broad Foundation, The Towns of Bay Harbor Islands, Bal Harbour, and Surfside for all of the continued support! Our school has just completed phase 2 of the Pride Outside Campaign as we added our new field and track! We are now beginning phase 3 as MDCPS, the PTA, The Gibb Family and the Shepard Broad Foundation join forces once again to construct a new two-story building above a newly renovated basketball court. We thank you in advance, for your patience and cooperation as we begin construction. We are truly blessed for all of the tender loving care we receive every year from our Bobcat Olympiads. We ask you to once again be part of the winning combination we proudly call our Bobcat Family!

Teaching and learning provides the foundation by which a particular school, and consequently a society, will be successful or not. School leaders must provide the vision and mission for teachers and learners to achieve these goals. This type of experience is essential to prospective educational leaders to bring forth positive change in a diverse county that is Miami-Dade County. I am very happy to be a part of the Bobcat family at Ruth K. Broad K-8 at Bay Harbor. I look forward to learning from each of you and helping our school and our community push forward further into the 21st century.

Welcome back!
I’m looking forward to this new school year. My goals include assisting our principal, Dr. Rodriguez, on her mission to improve our students’ performance by consistently raising the bar for student achievement through a positive attitude, improved student attendance, data analysis, and the delivery of meaningful instruction. I’m also excited about meeting Bobcat families through parental involvement opportunities, such as PTA, EESAC, The Volunteer Program, and The Parent Academy workshops.
Many changes are impacting our school, but one constant is the initiative made by all stakeholders to educate our students. Together, we can accomplish that task and maintain the standard that keeps us high on the grade scale used to measure schools. Once again it will be my pleasure to address the needs of the students as an Assistant Principal at Ruth K. Broad Bay Harbor K-8 Center and see your children successfully navigate an important phase in their education.
Please remember, my office door is always open to parents and students.
